Mindi Landry, Oceanside Real Estate Agent with over 37 years of experience in selling homes in North San Diego County.

I consider myself a highly effective Oceanside Real Estate Agent. I just read a interesting article on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Real Estate Agents. I know I’m effective because I’ve been an Oceanside Real Estate Agent for 37 years. Ineffective people don’t stay in an industry that long. I want to give you a short overview of the article and tell you how I measure up.

Effective Habit #1 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Understand the Real Estate Contract and Supporting Documents

This is one of my specialties. In fact in my 37 years as an Oceanside Real Estate Agent I’ve seen thousands of real estate contracts. I’ve seen most everything that can happen with an Oceanside home for sale. Have I seen everything? No, but I’m not surprised very often. I pride myself on seeing problems and issues before they happen. 37 years of experience selling Oceanside real estate really gives me an advantage.

I’m on the ethics review board for San Diego Realtors. I volunteer my time to mediate disputes between realtors in San Diego.

Effective Habit #2 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Patience

I both agree and disagree with this “effective habit”. Patience is a virtue, until the purchase contract is signed. Patience with  staging a home, patience with potential buyers coming through the home and patience with the decision to purchase a home. So patience with a customer I agree with.

But once we have a signed purchase agreement then we’ve started a sprint to the close of escrow finish line. With a signed contract there are many decisions to be made  about appraisals, inspections, warranties, and repairs. If these items are not executed on time there maybe a financial penalty you have to pay. Persistence and follow through is the effective habit an Oceanside Real Estate Agent should have once a purchase contract is signed.

Effective Habit #3 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Understanding the Real Estate Market

After 37 years of living in Oceanside and North San Diego County I know my neighborhood and the surrounding area well. I’ve seen this area grow up. I know this local area and I know the market.

Effective Habit #4 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Understanding the Client

I’m a people person and I pride myself on understanding my clients needs and wants. You won’t care how much I know until you know how much I care.

Effective Habit #5 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Communication Skills

I answer my emails and my phone calls. I have an assistant who helps me stay on top of all the communications with other agents, mortgage companies, escrow companies and service vendors.

Because of all my experience I anticipate questions and communicate before they even become questions.

Effective Habit #6 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Technological Skills

Am I a tech genius? No, but I have a team who helps me with technology like websites, internet marketing via Craigslist, MLS, social media and the like. What I can’t do, my team can.

Effective Habit #7 for an Oceanside Real Estate Agent: Be Likeable

I think I’m likeable. My husband and friends like me. I enjoy people and being able to help them find a house they can call home. Quite a few of my clients become friends and quite a few of my friends become clients. I think that means I’m likeable. You’ll have to judge for yourself.
